BUSINESS LAW
Corporations, LLCs, Partnerships, Contracts, Franchises, Trademarks, Copyrights
Regardless of whether you are starting your own business, a partnership, corporation, borrowing money, making a loan, signing an employment agreement, the time to create the contract is before the terms of your agreement begins.
Business Law focuses on the particular relevance to business, finance and commerce. Business organizations are subject to a vast amount of legal regulation in respect to their financial affairs, commercial dealings, shareholders and employees. Business Law is the development and representation of business entities of all types. These include corporations, limited liability companies (LLCs), general partnerships, limited partnerships, sole proprietorships, associations, organizations, and joint ventures. Business law also encompasses representation of individuals who act in a business capacity (owners, proprietors, principals, managers, partners, directors, officers, controlling shareholders, entrepreneurs). Finally it includes the representation of other individuals in their dealings with business entities (e.g. contractors, subcontractors, consultants, minority shareholders, employees, etc.). When we use the term “Business Law†we think of all of the above, that is, companies, owners, entrepreneurs, individuals in a business capacity and other individuals who have relationships with business entities.

AS AN EMPLOYEE: The workplace has become increasingly sophisticated as a result of the proliferation of laws designed to protect employees and their families from employer abuse. Employers now have to contend with far more limitations on their right to hire, compensate, manage, discipline and terminate their employees. As such, employers have enlisted lawyers, consultants and human resource professionals to help them navigate these laws and develop programs to manipulate their employees’ compensation, benefits and careers in order to meet corporate objectives. Unfortunately, most executives, managers and employees do not seek professional advice when confronted with employment related issues. Instead, they assume they are powerless to alter or influence employer decisions and believe what they are being offered or told is non-negotiable. In this instance, employers have a distinct advantage over their employees.
AS AN EMPLOYER: The represent employers and businesses in the New York area. Many employers are looking for ways to reduce the likelihood that employees will file legal claims against them. One way to achieve this is to ensure that employees are aware of company policies and that policies are enforced equitably and consistently. Our firm can assist the employer in drafting and reviewing employee handbooks and/or policy manuals to ensure that policies comply with Federal, State and local laws. We can draft and review employee handbooks and/or policy manuals to ensure that policies comply with Federal, State and local laws.
